Origins of Olandar
The name 'Olandar' originated in a dream.
Leigh J. McCloskey, one of the founders of 'Olandar' and the architect of its approach, had a dream many years ago in which he saw a poster of 'The Serpent Priests of Olandar, which subsequently gave way to a set of mythological stories he told to his young daughters. These were stories about an ancient world which once existed, whose inhabitants lived a tradition of ancient wisdom now lost to all but a few. The principles of 'Olandar' arise from this storytelling tradition, in pictures, word, and sensation.
'Olandar' as an entity -- as Olandar Press, Ltd. or 'Olandar Foundation for Emerging Renaissance' is designed to initiate 'renaissance', that is, 'rebirth'. This rebirth is only discovered through the emancipation of the imagination, and 'Olandar' means to be a nexus point for those qualities of mind and expression which will cause that emancipation in the human species. 'Olandar' will be a vehicle through which many modes of expression will manifest nothing less than the highest meaning and purpose of human life.
'Olandar' is a grand thought experiment, aimed at creating a different crucible, and believing that if we create it , people will come and the universe will respond. It will grow and spread in all directions and forms of knowledge and art which express its deepest truth.
